Ok, new problem
Ok, new problem
I got the timing set at about 6*, but the car doesn't want to idle. I can rev it and it feels strong. If I rev and let off the rpms just fall down and the engine doesn't try and catch itself. If I play with the throttle I can get it to kinda of hold around 1000-1500 rpms, but when I let off, it just kinda of stumbles and shuts down. I tried setting the IAC but couldn't get a good enough idle to do it. Thank you.
BC,
What engine/year/car is this?
Did you disconnect the EST bypass to set the base timing then reconnect it?

You can remove the IAC unit, clean the air passages and pintle, then work the IAC pintle all the way back into the unit before installing it. That should give you a pretty high idle when you first start the engine, and if the IAC steps back down to a more normal idle after satarting, you can assume that is is at least working.
While cleaning the IAC passages, cleaning the TB bores might help too.
