Is this safe???
I was in a rush getting to a friends house the other day and I was going a little more than 85mph on the highway. I noticed that the engine was turning almost 3000rpm.
Is 3000rpm sustained safe? That is more than half of the engines capacity, plus approaching its maximum potential power output. Is it ok to cruise at that engine speed?
When I cruise at 2000rpm (about 62) the engine doesnt really roar... it sounds like it is supposed to cruise there. But at 3000, it was really roaring like I was pushing it. What's the deal?

yeah thats no problem at all, probley good for it, i cruzed the highway with my 4.10 gear in my tempest and it was doing about 4,500 RPM non stop for a while, it melted the roter and made the distributor cap fly off but that was an extream situtation. and 4,500 for about 45 mins isnt good
i would say up untill 3,800 will be OK

The L69's with 3.73's normally cruise at 3000-3500rpm, so it's not a problem.
