damn

I wanted a camaro BAD for my first car, im 16, so back in may i bought a 1986 camaro z28 with a 305 tpi and t tops, car was nice, got stolen before i could even drive it. So i had to get another right? word comes out that camaro and firebird will no longer be made, so the people out here raise the prices for their cars for sale, as if it wasnt hard enough to find one, there are only like one for sale a year here, so i got stuck with a 1986 sport coupe (NOT WHAT I WANTED!!!!) i wanted a 1986 iroc z, so this car has a ****ty *** 2.8, and i have owned it since June 3rd 2001 and was only able to drive it home from when i bought it and around the block twice, the car lost a break line the day i got it, the door handle came off in my dads hand, the starter died that week, and the tires went flat a few days later, after somehow getting a meager 50ft burnout with my gay *** no posi rear end. Then the lugs wont come off the car so i cant even put the spare on, and to top things off the cooling fan doesnt work, the hoodlight doesnt work, no tail light in the spoiler, which is broken, with broken tail light covers, the left fender is hanging off, the right one is dented, there is rot in the quarter, which was fixed with aluminum flashing, and the hood is cut up, and the nose is broken on the left side where the fender bolts in, the curtesy light doesnt work, but the interior is mint, its got 130,000 miles on the original engine, and has an exhaust leak that fills up the whole car. Gee on the plus side it still smells like a new car =) but other than that the drivers seat is ripped, and the ashtray in the back is broken, the plastic interior panels in the hatch are missing all the hardware to hold them on, and some are broken, and there is no lock or anything for the little compartment on the drivers side in the hatch, missing hardware for the nose and tail also! i got the car because im gonna be a mechanic and its a great resto project, BUT I CANT FIND A JOB! NOBODY WILL HIRE ME!! AHHHH! so i am eager like mad to drive this thing, which is an automatic(yuck) and get it finished and painted, since right now its spray painted (drivers side is black, hood is red, passenger side is green, and the tail is red and green sanded down. The car sounds bad, but i want to fix it up. I want a damn job lol!

dude, just stick with it, persevere through it all, im sure at times things may seem a little rough and im sure there are times where your gonna sit back and think "geez where do i start" but i promise in the end if everything gets worked out you will have a sense of accomplishment like none other. true, it may be alot easier to shop around and find another camaro, but how bad can it be? at least when something goes out on this one and you replace the part you will know its condition. and besides, if you wanna be a mechanic this is gonna be some great practice for you. good luck with the car, ive got quite the project going myself-

Hey 86, it’s better than having a 72 month loan @ 412 bucks per !!!

Man I feel your pain. I'm going to restore my 81 Z-28 next year, and all your problems sound very familiar. On the good side, the parts are cheap as long as you don’t go to the dealer.
BTW: I’m not restoring to engine to stock. I not crazy enough to restore an early eighties smog motor. I’m thinking an LT-1 from a Vette would be nice !!! oh yea…

Holy **** why did you buy that thing? I hope you didn't pay more than -$100 dollars! DAMN! And how did you do a 50 foot burnout in a 2.8 beater? Thats hard to believe. If I was you I would set it on fire and buy a body from someone for like $300 and an engine from a junkyard to rebuilt for $200.

Thats gonna be a sight. Red black and green camaro driving down the street. About getting a job.. many auto parts stores are looking for lackeys to run the cash registers, so thats an easy way to learn something and get a discount on parts. Good luck.
