What are the big shiny metal box like things that come out of the hood on some cars...There like 3ft by2ft is that a air syastem I saw one on a 68 camaro.thanks

 

yes, alot of people have them mounted on top of carbs, and usualy they are mounted on top of blowers too. kind of a ram\cold air system

3 feet by 2 feet? that is one mother of a blower if you ask me. not to flame, it just sounds odd...

now 1 by 1 1/2 feet, that i could see. if so then definitely a supercharger, probably with a scoop on the filter. my 2 cents

It doesn't always have to be a blower. They might have a high rise intake and with an aircleaner won't fit under the hood. So some just opt to cut a whole in the hood.
