Water Pump, isn't there a lil valve that leaks when broke?

Isn't there this little thingy that like breaks or falls out when your pump goes bad, to let you know its time for a new one. Cuase I'm pretty sure mine is leaking everywhere and its hella over heating fast.

Usually what happens is, it starts pissing coolant out of the bearing vent hole on the bottom of the pump.I think this must be what you're referring to.And, yes it sounds like it's time to replace it.
Check out Stewart Components for a much better than stock pump for a reasonable price.

Yep, its called a weep hole. When the bearing fail it let coolant leak out the hole.

The manufactures put this hole there to prevent antifreeze from getting to the pump bearings. So it go, seal--weep hole--bearings. If the antifreeze were to get to the bearing they would seize in short order.

I personaly like the Edelbrock Victor Series water pumps.
They start at about 150 bucks.
