Fuel Question

Car wont keep an idle. Checked fuel pressure and it read 9-10 lbs
I have a stock 1985 firebird t/a 305 tpi, fuel is flowing, all injectors
clear, I think pump is getting ready to go... Shouldn't I have more
pressure? like 20 lbs ?

i'm thinking more like 30-45. I dont know though, i never checked mine. 9-10 isn't right at all though for tpi. Replace your fuel filter first, located towards the rear of the car, on the fuel line. If that doesn't work, replace the fuel pump.

Is seems as though you have answered your own question, the pump is ready to go! But make sure you check the fuel filter first!

305 and 350 TPI factory fuel pressure is 43.5 psi. You are no where close to the correct fuel pressure. So, yes, change out the fuel filter, then check the fuel pressure again. If not around 43.5 psi, then maybe it is the fuel pump in the tank.

If you do change out the fuel pump, you might as well install one that flows alot more than the factory pump.
