driving me nuts
In the last week I installed a new alternator, and a walbro fuel pump with thw wiring harness. Now I have a prolblem iwht the car cuting out when dirving. It cuts out around 3200 rpms at part or just easing to the gas sometimes. I had the car hooked up to diacom and see nothing in software going wrong. The car staring getting worse doing it at anytime and got to the point the car would not start. After a bout ten min. the car started fine. I then tought it was the ignition control module getting hot and cuting out. I changed it and its still doing it.
Has anyone had problem like this? If so what was it? Or does anyone have any ideas what this might be.
Thanx

Vent blocked in the gas tank, getting a vaporlock maybe?
Could also be the coil getting hot and crapping out on you.

My 90 IROC was doing the same thing, got to a point where it would just shut off will crusing down the highway!!!! It turned out to be a fuel cut off switch. It is supposed to kill the fuel pump when the car looses oil pres. Good luck

Hook up a fuel pressure gauge and watch it when it cuts out.
And for the record to the original poster, the oil pressure switch, from the factory, is not a cut out switch. It is wired in parallel with the fuel pump relay to serve as a back up for it.

Also don't forget that some software only uses the relay to prime the system and then deactivates it when the engine is running. Pull the oil pressure switch plug and the engine dies. I don't know for sure if the TPI F-Body is the same, but my TBI G-Series is that way. I know the relay works because it primes the system when the key is cycled. If I unplug the oil pressure switch the engine will die within seconds.

Stekman- Maybe your thinking of some other part, the fuel pressure switch is designed to kill the fuel pump in the event that the car is wrecked, upside down or whatever the case is, so you ane not spewing gas all over the place. If the switch is going bad it will tell your ecm there is a oil pres drop nd will shut off fuel to the car.
