Alright, I am about to yank my engine and while its out I need to fix a leeking oil pan gasket and timing cover. I am also going to upgrade my harmonic balancer because the guy who had the engine before me cross-threaded the bolts to the crank pulley into the balancer. I am looking to get a nice replacement or maybe a step up and i am wodering two things:

1. What size or style am I suppose to use? IE 6 and 1/4 or just one for a pre 86 chevy 350.

2. anyone want to recommend one for me?

The engine is an 010 casting 350 out of a chevy truck I am looking to spen less than $80 on this thing. If anyone can help me with the info or reccomend a quality part I would appreciatte it.

 

just stick a good used one on it

put whichever one back on it that is already on it, or you will have to swap timing cover also

they arent the same from 6.75 to 8

i have a 6.75" on an engine right now i dont need its gonna jut go to scrap yard with the whole engine soon, if you need one cheap then lemme know

 

If you are looking for just a non-special, street duty balancer (nothing high RPM or anything), just pick up a factory replacement from your local parts store (Pioneer brand, IIRC). They probably run about $40-50.

I will have to think about weather or not I want to buy a used one or not. Anyone know if my pre 85 010 350 is internally or externally balanced?
