Somtimes car wont start

Just noticed this the other day, went out to start it up and nothing at all.... Radio, lights, heater all work. Is this a sign of the starter going? 305 tbi if that helps. Thanks

Starter or ignition switch are a good guess if everything else works when this happens.

If lights dim when you try to start it and nothing happens, could be a bad battery or bad battery connection.

if you dont hear a clicking sound that means theres no power being transferred to the starter itself. if you tap it with a hammer a couple times it'll usually unstick the connections and work, but seeing where the starter is, doubt you'd want to do this.

Well, the same thing happened to me agin today. I went to turn it over and nothing at all, opened the hood a heard a quiet buzzing sound. One thing that i did notice was that the security light on my dash did not turn off after a few seconds as it usualy does, could this mean theres a different problem? Also I picked up a new starter today just incase. Let me know what you think, thanks

this happened to me a while back, and i thought starter too. i spent several hours pulling the starter out and then i went and got it checked, but the started was good. Then i went back and spent a few hours putting that pescky starter back in.

Then i said well i might as well go get the battery checked. and even though my lights came on and the radio worked, my battery was shot. so i got a new one, and all was well. The radio and lights and what not use very little electricity, and you can have a bad battery and the radio and stuff can still work. So save yourself the time and hassle of pulling the starter and spend the 5-10 minutes and get the battery checked.

Ok Thanks, If it turns out to be the battery I may have a brand new high torque gear reduction starter for sale.
