383TPI/T5, balancing & shrapnels?

I'm building a 383TPI w/ Eagle 383 crank out of a '88 350 block. I belive i can use my existing flywheel (if i have it unbalanced first), or can i?

I think the 383 crank is externally balanced since it comes w/ 400's 8" damper.

The second question is: How is the '88 (world class?) T5 going to handle it? The engine is going to be mild (at first) ~ 300hp but ~450lbs/ft.. Or should i just sell the T5 and get something stronger istead of it?

Competition Products' catalog lists a weight to use with a standard 350 flywheel to make it externally balanced.

In case you haven't considered it, the '88 block is going to be a one-piece rear main seal design, while most 383 kit cranks are two-piece. An adapter is available to use the two-piece crank in a one-piece block.

I doubt a T5 of any vintage is going to be too happy with a 383 if you ever plan to unleash any of the new-found power.
