ok i just finished building my engine have it in my car cranks no problem just wont start shoots fire out of the carb some times with a little ether i think its a valve problem i dont know if i tightened them down properly any advice feel free

Double check firing order/plug wires, and timing - you may have dizzy off by a tooth, or even 180*

 

Firing through the intake would indicate the power stroke is goofed up somewhere, I doubt it's the rockers. First thing is to check the firing order like said above, then after that check the distributor. Common problem is to be 180 out.
