piston stops?
I have a 327 that the crank stops turning at the same spot, you can turn it backwards to that point and it stops again. The engine ran fine until one morning then it just quit turning at that point. My theory is the timing chain broke while cranking and a valve is stuck open, and now the piston is hitting it. I put a large wrench on the crank bolt and it will just not turn past that point.

just pull the motor and go through it
i cannot justify "theorizing" when it comes to a problem like this
just gonna have to bite the bullet and pull it to look through it

true^
i hope you're right, but i have a feeling it's worse... it could be alot of things. a dropped or broken main cap lodged in there, busted crank, timing chain, etc...
it sucks because it wasn't running when it happened, so you have no clue. you just come out one morning like "damn, its broken" lol
i'd tear it down.

Don't know how it happened but turns out their was a bit of rust in one of the cylinders, also it's a 350 not 327. But the question is is it advisable to dip the block and then just hone it and install new rings, the rest of the cylinders are in beautiful shape not hardly even a defect in any one of them.
