Idle Hunting

I've been after a mess of problems:
IDLE HUNTING
LONG STARTING (fixed)
BASE IDLE NOT RESPONDING TO PROGRAM
TEMP/FAN ON TIMES not going off
ALDL SCANNER ( Wont read Data above 1000 RPM)
VATS BITS dont matter, VATS does not work ( start anyway)
1227165 ARAP, $6E- 350 TPI 24/lbsInj
Doing my best to search , there are so many posts to search through to find the exact one was really difficult and proved to be somewhat useless as it didn't apply to me.

My Idle no matter what I try during startup will rise and fall for at least 60 seconds. All the way to 1800RPM and falls down 700 or so...... TPS is @ .54

LONG STARTING ; It was the programming in crank pulse

Base IDLE : I can let it warm to the desired idle temp, and the idle will fall off to the 500 RPM... idle is great.. Now it will sit there indefinately,,,, until you drive .... then go around a few times and stop and let it rest... the idle does its normal Hold for Stop and then bleads back down to base idle, which at this point is 800RPM. Does not goto 500RPM.. Very annoying
( I like to hear my idle go lumpity lump..) Its like ear candy.

TEMP : my Fan's come on early Like I want, but never turn off even though I have set the off time lower then the on time. This is very annoying

ALDL : not really sure if its my gear or the Computer. The Scanner connects to the computer if the idle is low, touch the gas and it looses connection. Wierd ? now it idles low 500rpm, maybe its a voltage problem Rpm raises and the device fails ? Dunno...I can not tune anymore because of this..

This does not happen on other cars, same scantool and it works or it doesn't.. I think its old.. KAL9000 Mac tools...

I have ran a few tests with the Vats on and off,,my vats system works..only with the stock chip. ( now gone ) but the programmed ARAP will never run the Vats.. Even turning on Vats bits I can still disconnect vats connector and start the car. That is really ****ty since my Vats installation does not affect starter, just the fuel delivery, INJ wont fire normally..

Stupid system the vats anyways, So easily defeated by one snip. But I would still like it to work..

Idle will always be high at startup. The computer does this to help warm the engine up.

How are the IAC adders programmed?

There are IAC step adder values for A/C Active, Startup Delay, Park/Neutral position, Fan Anticipate, and a table for IAC steps versus CTS.

How wide have you set the Target Idle deadbands for both DRIVE and PARK/NEUTRAL?

Considering that you are experiencing problems with fan operation, target idle RPM, and possibly other IAC control, is the CTS acting normally? Are there any "dead" areas in its output? Just a possibility.

Vader.
im Just going over those points, I remember setting a few to Zero. I think the
Target deadband drive 37.50
Target deadband park 37.50 rpm
Warm engine AC 5 steps
Fan anticipation 5 steps
start up delay 2000msec

You know I never even thought about checking the fluid response of the CTS, maybe it does have some Dead areas.

im shady when it comes to the stall saver stuff.. Are my IAC vs CTS going to affect other integrations if the RPM is set to 500 RPM
Are there ARAP stock settings that might over compensate because of a Lower Desired RPM..?

Thanks Vader.

AFAIK, the IAC vs. CTS table values are added to any other value for IAC counts. Fan anticipate, par/neutral, and all other adders are just that - They are added for a sum of IAC counts beyond what would otherwise be required to maintain target idle. I would think some larger adders could push the IAC to a point outside the deadband tolerance, and keep the poor little ECM rather busy trying to control idle.
