New motor knocking?

OK about two weeks ago we finaly got my new motor started and running pretty good. Well thursday night i brought it home and right before i did while it was still at my friends house it had ran completely out of gas so we went to local gas station w/ a gas can and i got 5 gallons of 87octane just so i could get it home. well once we got it started it ran pretty smooth still but like every 10-15 seconds we would hear a knock at idle and if i brought it above idle it wasnt heard. Well i drove it home which was about two miles though town and the car ran strong and smooth and holding oil pressure right near 60psiand at idle psi is around 40-45. Well last night i went to move it and when i started it it was making the same knocking noise of before but a little more constant but not rythmic like a bearing and the oil pressure is still around 60above idle and cold and 40-45warm and idle. Also the knock is unheard once i give it gas and bring it above idle. I first thought it was detonation so i went and bought a lil over 10 gallons of hightest gas and some fuel treatment and put it in to see if it helped any and it hasent. i went ahead and readjusted all the rockers and it still is doing it so valve adjustment isnt off. that would be just a ticking anyway. Please help ive spent the past year waiting to get this car running again and now this. i dont want to screw it up so i want to catch it now i need to get it going soon since its my only means of transportation. thanks

You could try changing the fuel filter as maybe it got some debree from the tank. Check for spark wires hitting exhaust.

it has a new fuel filter and it sounds like something was droped in the motor. the guy that helped me build the motor and put it in and tune it came over to hear it since he has done a few more motors than me and he said sounds like something in oil pan or like mabey somehow the oilpump pick up got ripped off and is gettin thrown around in the pan but its still holding good oil pressure. i dunno im just gonna dain the oil and pull he pan and look and worst comes to worst ill have to pull the crank and get it turned or replace it. well it could be worse but lets not go there. does anyone know what a cam whipin oa lobe off sounds like? could that have happend or mabey a lifter has colapsed or since rockers werent adjusted completely b4 could a pushrod bent and messed up somethin or come out of the top of lifter or lifter come out?
