Shopping list for valve seal replacement?
I'm about to change my valve seals. I've never done this type of work before. Actually, I've never even had to pull a valve cover off. I feel confident in my abilities though, and I hope to save some money doing this myself. The car is a 91 Camaro RS, 305 TBI, A4. I would appreciate it if somebody could make a list for me of the things I will need to buy to go the job. Thanks alot

If you are going to use compressed air to hold the valve you will need the adapter to screw into the block. Otherwise you need to make sure you have some rope to use.

I would put a fresh set of valve springs on it while they're off. After 15 years and who knows how many miles, they're bound to be tired. Just a stock set will get you by so it wont break the bank.

I recommend these seals for both intake and exhaust:

Probably need one of these to rotate the engine.

might be a stupid question but, is it possible to do the seals following the firing order of the engine? so no rope or air is necessary but instead the piston being at TDC would keep the valve from dropping?

no the valve will still drop into the cylinder a bit because of clearances. You really need to do the compressed air or rope trick honestly.

Probably some useful information here if you decide to go through with just a valve stem seal replacment...
