Engine code interpretation
Engine code interpretation
on my girlfriends 92 rs 5.0 this is what happened
The heater core went, so I replaced it, might have broke a vacum (not sure).
When it starts, it idles extreemly rough for about 5-10 seconds. Then something shuts off, the SES light comes on, and it idles high. driving home with it today, was fine on the highway, ran at 120 degrees whole time, til i hit stop'ed traffic, and then it red lined, and died out on me. went to pull off and it went back to 180.
this reminded me of the time my 87 overheated because of a bad thermastat, after changing it. It was fine.
During the heater core swap, the computer there wasn't mounted correctly, and might be bad not sure, I made sure that it was connected tightly.
I have not driven it since, so I have not had a chance to clear the codes and recheck them but here they are
32 - EGR open command did not change the fuel mixture when the command was given during off idle operation. EGR opening should cause the mixture to be slightly richer because of the low oxygen content of exhaust gas.
33 - MAP sensor signal voltage was too high (low vacuum) for 5 seconds when throttle opening was under 4%.
45 - Oxygen sensor voltage was over 0.7 volts for 70 seconds with a throttle angle between 2% and 20%. The engine had been running for at least 1 minute.
54 - Fuel pump voltage was not present at fuel pump sense line for 2 seconds after the ECM has sent the fuel pump on command.
If someone could tell me what that means to someone who doesn't have an egr anymore I would be very happy.
I am not used to all the codes and computers. I ended up making my camaro compeletely mechanical on the engine side, sparkplugs are the only things that have juice going through them.
thank you in advance.

edit:
Forgot to say, checked the level of the fluid and it was about 70% in the radiator.

These appear to have been generated when you went to restart it with the connectors loose or something.
Pull the battery cable and wait a few minutes then put it back on and go for a 10 minute drive.
it may run a little crappy at first but will improve over time.
then pull the codes again.
the first set is erroneous just because I see you had no fuel pump running. dead givaway that something was not connected or the car would not even run.
