Vaccum Line at rear of Intake Manifold?

Well, my heat and air controls don't work anymore. It only blows from the defroster. I searched the pages here but need to know what the vaccum line at the rear of the intake manifold goes to. The engine is a 305 TBI (1989 RS). I was looking for a vaccum leak somewhere at found that line wasn't hooked up to anything, but could feel at slight vaccum on the line end. I found it coming off a T-spliter off the intake then going behind the distributor. I haven't pulled anything off yet, I was wondering if someone could help me out first.

it sounds like the blower resistor is fryed. i came across this thread a while back:
https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...r+and+resistor
those pictures are prettymuch all youre gonna need to replace it

as for the hose, im pretty sure that doesnt have anything to do with it. IIRC, it goes to the charcoal cannister, but someone will probably correct me on that.

edit: confusing misspellings

HVAC system uses vaccuum to control the flaps that direct airflow under dash. Default position (no vac) is defrost. You've found the problem, just chase it down.

not sure on yours.. but on my 83 and 84's there is a vac line that goes to the HVAC thing on the firewall right above the brake booster (or right in that location) from there there is a hard plastic line that comes from that and goes into the firewall (i am not sure of the exact location but i believe it is on the passenger side, but i could be wrong) it then comes into the cabin and goes to the back of the HVAC controls. pretty simple really.. If the line is intact from the vac source to the box on the firewall, and from the firewall box to inside the cabin, then you have to look a the vac diaphrams. there are 3 of them in the f-body... one on the passenger side, and two in the center of the car. if any of those sprung a leak it could cause similar problems.
