begging for help now - Power steering
I'm am now begging for help with my power sterring setup.
I pulled the current motor out of an 85 Z28, blah blah blah, but I dont remember if the damn thing has AC, or any toher accessories.
I am now trying to get the last thing on my list before I can drive the car after 2 years. I went to a junk yard and I found a bracet set, but I would not figure out how it went on the block. I thought it was just the wrong setup since i found it under the car, not on the car.
Then, I bought a set of brackets from GM. Told them it was for an 85 305 with no air. They gave me 2 brackets, one looks exactly like the bracket I got at the junk yard. The other, is a small one. I can not figure out how to mount these brackets. At least, not in a way that they work both on the pump AND the motor.
I am using the power steering pump form my V6 (was brand new). Looking in the manual, I see a different resivour that is long and goes off to the side. Mine is just a normal tear drop looking one.
Can someone please explain to me if there is a difference in brackets between air & non air, and where these brackets go. I would love some pics or diagram or anything!
I went to part store and asked for a new pump, the brought one out (without resivour) and it is the EXACT pump I have, same bolt pattern on the front. So I assume I have the correct pump, possibly the wrong resivour. The big bracket I have only mounts to the front of the pump one way, thats it. The small one (i assume is the back bracket) I can not get to work anywhere. The small bracket has a single hole which I assume is for a bolt, then a slot which I assume is for adjustment of the pump.
I am ready to make my own bracket, this is driving me nuts.
thanks for any help.

Are you running AC? I would guess you aren't.
There is a thread on the Carb forum with a bunch of pictures of different people's cars. A good share of them don't have AC.
Whether the engine had AC or not is irrelevant. All that matters is what you're putting back on.
