Hard start when hot...89 IROC L98

Hey fellas,
I have a hard start problem when the car warms up to operating temperature. It will start fine when cold. After it reaches operating temp., and you turn off the key, it will not start unless you let it set for 5-10 minutes. It is not the starter, as it turns over very easily.
The problem is that it is not getting enough fuel as I shot some starting fluid into the throttle body opening and it started right up and ran.
I checked the coolant temp sensor and it is working.
I checked the fuel pressure and it was at 39psi and I bumped it to 46psi with no change (one year old 24# accel injectors).
I tested the plugs for the injectors and they measure .23-.26 volts while the car is running.
The car has a slightly surging idle and a little bit rough.
The timing was checked and reset.
The fuel pump is a few years old. (maybe the flow is down?)
What would cause a fuel starvation problem when hot??

Thanks for any help.

im gonna bet that its heatsoak into the starter, get a heat shield for it or a mini starter and your problems will go away.

But he said that it turns over freely. Ruling out the heatsoaked starter.

Im interested in the answer, as ive seen cars do this but never found out what the cause was.

oh, i misread something as when it was cold, sorry.

due to the bad idle, maybe IAC or TPS?

Could be those Accel injectors, ive heard bad things about them.

Another question...
What should the fuel pressure read after shut down.
If it is at 46psi on shut down, how long should it take for the pressure to go down? And how do you do a fuel pump flow test?

An EGR valve sticking can cause a low air/fuel ratio during idle and cranking. Long shot but worth checking.
