Fuel Filter Question

Changing fuel filter
I have been going thru some threads to find the answer to my question but I feel unsure...I think the question has been asked before, probably many times but I still don't feel quite sure about the answers. so here it goes...according to the manual, just taking out the fuel pump fuse and letting the car run till it does does the trick, but upon taking the fuse out the car still runs but it runs "badly", waited for some mins but it never died out... what else do i have to do to relieve the fuel pressure completely? or do i have to run the risk of gas on my face?? I don't want that to happen so I just want to make sure and ask the question. Thanks for your help.

Remove the fuel cap and bleed the lines at the schrader valve.

Take the cap off, this will relieve pressure. It will not spray in you face. The worst it will do is drip out but thats it.

The fuel line will have pressure in the line even if you take the gas cap off, This is because the fuel pump is in the gas tank. The pressure starts there threw a check valve in the pump an into the lines threw the fuel filter and up to the injectors. the check valve in the pump will not let the pressure bleed down in less it sits for a while. By Pulling the fuse should shut down the fuel pump,Possable you aren't removing correct fuse? But if you can't find the fuse let it sit 20min. and slowly crack the line lose, fuel will come out but shouldn't be that strong (Face hitting). Another safty note if you have a lite bulb style drop light, KEEP THIS AWAY FROM DRIPPING/SPRAYING FUEL OR BOOM!!!!!!!!!! You'll have a fire.

I'm sure I pulled out the right one, but will double check anyways just in case or maybe I should pull all of them out? that will certainly make sure it is off. It is labeled FP right?
I think someone here wants me to be sprayed in the face....just kidding. I appreciate your help... Ill see how it goes and definitely don't want to be blown to pieces so I will make the necessary precausions.

The only time the pulling the fuse trick didn't work, was on a different car, I pulled the fuse, but the correct fuse was above the text labelling it as 'fp'. So it kept running. If the car stills runs, then you pulled the wrong fuse, or someone re-wired something wacky.
