Light above headlamp switch

Hello all,
The lamp above the headlight switch is out, i removed it and would like to know what type of lamp this (part number) or where can I buy this module. Oh, this part is off a 1989 Pontiac Firebird. Any information will be greatly appreciated,

Brad

You have to give me more credit than that, my LAPS was the first place I looked..this is a special light bulb, I coundnt even find in the GM part book. I think its part of the headlight switch assembly.

yes that is it!! the bulb is very small with long wire leads that are soldered/ crimped. I think I am going to some bulb place like Sylvania, and look for a small 12V bulb with a very small current flow.

Re: Light above headlamp switch - What is it?

Yes, I'm replying to a year old posting, but nobody ever got to the bottom of this, so here goes. I have my dash torn apart right now and noticed that the little light above the headlight switch is out, also. As the other posters said, its some sort of weird light and the GM parts guy can't figure it out either. Did they have LED's back then? Does anyone have a part # -- do I replace the bulb (if it has one) or the light itself? Thanks and I really dont want to put the instrument cluster back together until I fix the light probem.

Ok, I managed to take apart the housing for the light. This is one of those things that just take way too much time. It is tricky prying the thing apart. Anyway, the light is a conventional bulb but they really dont want you to replace it -- it's hard-wired into the thing and is just kinda suspended by the leads. Tomorrow I'll cut it out and see what it is. There didnt seem to be any markings on it, but I'll bring my magnifying glass.
