what is the best 400 block? what casting number?
what is the best 400 block? what casting number?
i am looking for a 400 4bolt main cast iron block to build, for a time i was thinking of getting a dart aluminum block but i figured that cast iron would be better.
what do u all think?

If you're talking stock GM SBC production blocks, the 511 casting is the most sought after. With GM production 400sbc blocks, 4 bolt mains are actually weaker than the two bolts (less webbing). A 2 bolt 511 casting with splayed main caps would be ideal IMHO...
