Odd issue...

Ok, i just had 2 new valves put in this head because of this same problem before...

the exhaust rocker on #1 keeps turning a little, last July it turned enough to pop off the valve and break the rocker stud.

I'm guessing that whoever drilled and tapped the head for the screw in studs messed up on this one...

Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?

I'm not 100% sure but I don't think you can use guide plates so you'll need self aligning rockers.

Guide plates or self-aligning rockers, take your pick. You need one or the other.

Looks to me like somebody drilled the push rod slots out of your heads, like they were prepping them for screw-in studs and guide plates; but there's no guide plates. So the rockers are free to wander around wherever they feel like.

If so, you need to install either guide plates, or self-aligning rockers; but NOT BOTH.

So if i install guide plates, will i have to switch to hardened pushrods?

these pushrods are the ones that come with the XR270HR full roller retro kit.

Man, did you get ripped off! That kit is only $900 from Summit.

The description doesn't say anything about the pushrods. I'd say talk to Comp.

Pushrods, guideplates, rocker studs - by the time you get through, the self-aligning rockers might be cheaper (would certainly be easier).

I didn't say where i got it

I ordered everything at one time and paid just over $1100.

that included the 1.52 rockers, pushrods and 3/8" studs. I ditched the double roller timing set in favor of a noisey Pete Jackson tho.

I have a brand new set of rocker studs (missing 3) so this should be an easy install...
