Abuse

For the people who abuse their car (Drive fast, do burn outs)...

What kind of abuse has your car taken, and what kind of special maintenance do you do?

It's not really a clear question, just ask if you don't understand I'm pretty much asking how your car is holding up if you drive it hard

Mine did well until about 182,000 miles but after one tranny @ 150,000 Miles and then the engine destroyed itself @ 182,000. Was constantly racing, doing burnouts, and donuts etc... the main thing i did was kept up routine oil changes, tune-ups etc... and all fluids the car had were synthetic.

What some consider abuse I consider use! I bought a nearly 100% stock '88 hardtop LB9 T5 Iroc last year, and have done a bunch of free mods and many, many dragstrip passes. I think in the time I have had the car it has had nearly bald drag radials on it more than the street tires. Car has 189,000 on it and had 187,000 when I got it. Smokes on cold startup due to valve guide seals being toast, considering tossing a nitrous shot on it. Why not?

My '91 S10 has a cast piston, low compression overcammed mismatched combo in it, I have put 32,000 or so on it, blew a radiator and cooked it enough to brown the paint on the heads, I still make dragstrip passes with it, my wife took it from Georgia to Virginia by herself, I have pulled a 16' tandem axle trailer with an Iroc on it behind it. Still going!

I change oil regularly and am prepared to replace broken parts if/when it happens.

heavy use but not what i would call abuse broke a sway bar bolt on the front once that sent me off a perticulairly bad corner...the floor pan looks like a cheese grader went over it...hit the bottom so hard it broke a hinge on the hatch back...wedged both doors shut...knocked the ring gear off the flywheel...broke or tore off one break line...tow truck nearly rolled the car over trying to get it back up to the road...it took most of one day to get it back on the road...front end didnt lose alignment...frame stayed squared...i do have a wonder bar, stb, and roll bar (subframe connector) ...i auto cross, hill climb, and just put a lot of pressure on this car for the last 5 years and i dont forsee it retiring soon.........tao

I wouldn't exactly call it abuse...I mean, we wouldn't do these things if our cars weren't capable of them.

Generally I do the occasional burnout, race sometimes, but I am ALWAYS jumping on it. It's all about routine maintenance really, treat your car right, and it will treat you right =)
