CONVERTING CARB TO TPI
Hey Guys/gals I Was Wondering If Someone Couldhelp Me With An Issue Im Having.
I Currently Have A 1991 Camaro Z28 It Has A 350 And Its Tpi. The Car Has Around 167000 Miles On It. It Stills Runs But Sometimes On Start Up It Blows Out Blue/grayish Smoke Out The Tail Pipes. Also After Running It For A While When I Step On The Gas Smoke Blows Out. Anybody Know What The Problem Might Be And How To Fix It?
I Found A Chevy 350 Engine For Sale But Its Carb How Can I Convert That Engine To Tpi? What Do I Need? Can I Use The Parts From My Old Tpi Engine?
Please Help.
Thanks.

The bluish on startup is leaky valve seals. With age, they deteriorate into hardened shells and overnight oil seeps past them and when you start it up, the residual seepage gets sucked into the chamber and gets burned off.
The stepping on the gas part sounds like rings that are wearing out. Wet/dry compression test is an easy way to check the integrity of the rings.
350 to a 350 (in theory) would be pretty much a direct swap, just do a longblock swap essentially. However, in actuality it depends on the nature of the 350 you would be dropping into it (tuning might be required).
