AFR 190 flow

Anyone want to see the AFR 190 flow numbers done by two independent shops? I think its interesting how they flow almost exactly as topline heads out of the box.

Straight out of the box..
Intake
100 62 cfm
200 116
300 166
400 211
500 244
600 backflow (not sure what this means)

Exhaust
100 47 cfm
200 95
300 126
400 147
500 164
600 170
700 176

The independant flow numbers I've seen for topline heads are lower than that those numbers look more like TFS and Brodix. Still a lot lower than AFR advertised.

Look at the CHP article for the Topline 180s. They arent far off. I still havent seen any independent flow #s for the 180s though.

I found an independent test for the Topline 180s from a 69 camaro. Port matching to a Performer RPM and minor chamber cleanup around the valves. Here's the #'s taken at 28"

.100 69.5 59.6
.200 122.6 116.5
.300 169.6 161.1
.400 213.4 186.6
.500 248.5 198.4
.600 270.6 204.2
.650 272.4 206.7
.700 268.2 207.7

I'm not sure what he meant by backflow. I would guess turbulance.

Numbers from a set of 180 Pro Heads
Intakes

.100..83.4
.200..139.1
.300..187.2
.400..224.4
.450..234.8
.500..242.5
.550..247.6

Exhaust

.100..64.8
.200..108.1
.300..139.4
.400..160.6
.450..166.8
.500..173.2
.550..176.2

No pipe on exhaust

Any time you have a port that backs up/Looses flow...etc. Even if its only a few cfm thats a sign of a bad port. It's going turbulent and the motor will never make the power it should. It's going into Sonic Choke, I suggest you have someone fix it for you

Well luckily they arent my heads but from one of the members of another board I frequent. I got a set of topline heads but i havent had them flowed. This person was very dissapointed by the AFR heads.

Those AFR numbers are disappointing. Heck, I've seen higher independent numbers by Trick Flow. (230 @ .400 / 253 cfm @ .600)
