About what you'd expect with fair and regualar maintenance.

Why is it apart?

What is that big gouge mark looking thing in the first third picture where the sensor is? Can you feel any grooves or any bad things in the cylinders?

The thing is apart because I made the stupidist mistake I've made in my life. I put a 3\8 extension in the spark plug hole to find top dead center and I used the starter to bump the engine and it bent the extension. I had to take off the other head so I figured why not do the other head gasket while I'm at it. I was suprized to find the cylinders and pistons in such good shape. I cant find any gouges in the walls and there is a very faint ridge on top of the cylinder.

What gouge do you mean? I can't see what your talking about. Is it on the cylinder wall or piston?

I would have to say not badly. Looks like minimal carbon, sludge, etc.

This is a 30,000 mile shortblock with a cracked head that had been running rich due to a monster cam on EFI and lack of fine tuning.

This is a 30,000 mile shortblock.

Dialed in, I don't know about the rings and bearings I hope they are ok because I don't want to take the rest of it apart I really don't have the money for all that. Thanks for the pics of the 30,000 mile engine fast355.
