I have a freind that has a 92 camaro 3.1 that will not start. the idiot lights come up but nothing else seems to work. he said the infl light stays lit. is this the airbag system? would this keep the car form starting?

the car will not try to turn over, fuel pump isn't priming, just the idiot lights. any ideas???

 

"INLF REST" is the warning lamp for the air bag. It should turn on when the ignition is turned on, then flash as the SIR system runs a diagnostic cycle, then turn off. It should have little to do with whether the engine starts. Since you have no fuel pump prime cycle, and no cranking, check the ignition switch and fusible links at/from the starter.
