timing advancing itself
hey yall, what would cause ur timing to advance itself? I have it set to 12* and at idle it stays tehre but when i give it gas it advances itself and then returns back to 12*. BTW i have a 2.8 liter. The car shakes at idle and shakes when giving it gas. When i let off the clutch it died under its own power. Iono whats wrong with it

Car: Yes
Engine: Usually
Transmission: Sometimes
Axle/Gears: Behind me somewhere
The timing is supposed to do that.
Turn off the motor, disconnect the EST lead, set it where it belongs, turn the motor back off, hook the lead back up, and leave it alone after that.
"Shaking while idling" sounds like it has a fouled spark plug.
In no case will dinking with the ignition timing fix that.
