ATTENTION 91/91 Camaro's with TPI 305 OR 350

I need you guys to do me a HUGE FAVOR!

With the car cold, start the car and report:

1. Year
2. Model
3. Engine (ie. 5.7L v8 350 TPI)
4. AT IDLE: What is your TACH reading?

The reason I ask is because my 1992 Camaro Z28 (5.7L V8 350 TPI) idles at 10,000 and a friend of mine who owns two 1991 Camaro Z28's with stock 5.0L V8 305 TPI engines claims my 10,500-11,000RPM (at idle) is WAY too high and claims it SHOULD be around 8,500 - 9,500 or so..

My mechanics have ALWAYS had the car idling at around 11,000RPM during cold and I don't believe it go down much more when warm.

I wouldn't want to idle that high either... But I'm guessing what you mean is 1100 RPM or 850/950 RPM... Mine idles about 900 when its cold and about 650 once its warmed up... I think this is close to inline with a stock AUJP program. The warm idle on a stock program is a bit lower (like 600 or so) if I remember correctly..

Would a 91 5.0L V8 305 TPI (in a 1LE R7U) have different idling RPM than my 92 5.7L V8 350 TPI possibly?

Your car should idle at the following RPMS.. Make sure to verify your in-dash tachometer with a tool, sometimes they read incorrectly, especially on Camaros it seems...
