When you floor it, the oil pressure is going to build up; however, I have never seen my gauge max out when flooring it.

Well in my own experience with oil pressure sending units, I've had four go on me in a three year period. Now I've never seen mine max out but I have seen it go to zero, and I checked with a manual gauge and it was fine. First I would check with a manual gauge.
