i have a strong 350 tbi recently put holly on top and now i have a tapping on right hand side of the motor when i accelerate idle, nothing.i use an stock electronic distributer wich i want to replace with a vaccum advance from a early model and scrap the electronic(can i do that)anyway i feel like its my camshaft thats about to give up on me but i still have the same power as i did before the tapping my timings all messed up and the tapping is scaring me should i break it down and rebuild or go with the cam lifters pushrod thing

do you have a Carb on right now, non-computer controlled and still have a computer controlled distributor, if so you are prob. getting spark knock under accel, but i would think you would notice a lack of power on accel.

If the timing's messed up, it's probably just be spark knock. When I started my most recent motor for the first time, I had all kinds of spark knock (bad timing mark on dampr) and it didn't effect power much at all. Try pulling some timing out of it. About 10* initial advance for a factory-like engine is all you really need.
