interesting code 43..
hey guys,
got a code 43 today on a customer's car. Now, I'm not too much of an expert, but I am mechanically inclined... The car is a 91 camaro convertible with a 355 TPI. Interesting thing is that, it has the RS Speedo on it.. I don't know the history of the car, so I don't know if it had a TBI in it before or not.
SYMPTOMS: What really puzzles me, though is that the 10A fuse for the GAUGES blows pretty quickly. Also, the SES light comes on right when you start up the car (I even resetted it by unhooking the battery). The car also has some pretty poor driveability, which I'm guessing is due to the knock sensor acting up.
The car just had an engine swap (bottom end), that's it. ECU stayed the same (did not even remove the kick panel that covers it), so I'm going to guess that it's the 730 ECU. First thing I checked were wire connections at the knock sensor and the EST plug, and there are no cuts/breaks in the wires. I didn't have a volt meter to check the knock sensor plug.
I'm suspecting that the knock sensor will probably need to be changed, but why would the gauge fuse blow all the time? I'm guessing that there is a connection between the two, but it puzzles me that the gauge fuse would blow so quickly... and what's the relation btwn a code 43 and the gauges?
thanks

make sure that the secondary fan connector and knock connector are not switched. If you ground out the fan connector with ignition on it will turn fan on. Also this connector is 12v with ignition on and knock connector is more like 5v.
