I would think that's a nice cam for a 10:1 305 motor....
does the car run yet? take it to a strip and find out! I'm very curious.
edit; hey yea, that is a 350. I'm trying to fire up my 355 with that cam, hopefully success comes tonight.... let me know how yours runs with that combo.

You must have got an early 350 block in order to wind up with a flat tappet cam. I agree that is holding you back. So I will say mid 13's with your current combo. Other wise low 13's and if the stars and moon lined up high 12's.

I would say low 13's-high 12's...
3000RPM stall, aftermarket rear suspension, 265 drag radials, 3.73's, 227/234 .500" lift cam, trickflow heads, super ram... Yea, I think that's a pretty fast car. Sounds like a pretty well matched combo to me. Only thing that I can think of is stock MAF, I don't even know if that would do anything bad for you though.

Sonix, i dont really get your first post, how is that a good 305 cam lol...... what other cam would you suggest on a 350 EFI motor like mine?? its hard enough to tune this cam with the TPI EFI..

that cam will seem bigger in a 305. People were suggesting the cam is holding you back, so I thought i'd mention that in a 305 it'd be bigger then it seems. However you've got a 350, so it should be just about right. Not too radical that it's impossible to tune, but still make really good power.
Anyway, let me know how it goes, I finally got my car to fire up last (same cam, small chamber heads.) and i'm having a hell of a time keeping it running. It's needing GOBS of timing at idle.... may have to modify my q-jet....

well, ok, not *that* similar of a combo.
416 heads, ported, ended up being 64ish ccs. Started life as 58ish though.
same cam
q-jet carb
4 speed manual trans
3.23 rear

you should definately run low 13's high 12's, i run 13.6's and run 9.5 compression, stock lower intake and slp runners with a much smaller cam. also i have only a 2200 converter. how lumpy does that cam sound?

Well.. With 8.96:1 compression, a somewhat similar cam, crappy sportsman-II iron heads (flow about the same I guess as your tfs 175's), Stock TPI with an edelbrock base, and tuning I ran low 13's at like 102-103mph.. (back in 2000).
I think your setup is good for low 13s, maybe high 12s.. Only thing holding you back is the 700R4.

Are the shifts very "harsh"? Is it "comfortable" on the street?

no not at all uncomfortable, it feels fine. only shifts hard when flooring it
by the way, thanks for the input joe! i figured the accel intake would give me a big advantage over the stock TPI, i was expecting around mid 12's....

any plans for getting a tune on that computer? I'd bet you could pick up 3 or 4 more tenths just in tuning...

How about you scrap BOTH ideas, and get a Stealth Ram??
Seriously, DONT use a standard tpi-style set-up. At least go with the SuperRam.

its just that the super ram costs a decent amount, i guess im just gonna have to save up. the TPIS base and runners come out to 900 before shipping, the super ram off summit is 750 for the plenum/runner piece, and the base is another 3 or 400 dollars, so they are gonna be AROUND the same price. i guess ill stick with the super ram
only are you guys POSITIVE that the amount of things i will have to change to install the super ram will be the same as the TPIS base and runners? which should be NOTHING lol. i just want to make sure i can keep the same stuff like the fuel rails an stuff

i just changed a few things in the original thread starter, just wanted to see if you guys thought anything different. instead of going with the trick flow heads, im sticking with the zz4 heads i have, and im going to have them worked. i found out they have a LOT of potential, so im going to try to take advantage of that.

I looked into this a few years ago. TPIS does a decent porting job on the 113 heads, for about $1800. Trickflows are $1100-1200. You can even get a set of AFR's for what the 113 heads will cost to get ported enough to compete with trickflows.

haha... thats what i figured i would hear... hmm well, the thing is the TPIS porting job comes out to 1200 after you sent them your core heads. yes, i know this is still expensive, but the flow numbers look amazing....
For the L-98 we only use the D port casting # 10088113, stock flow numbers is .100 increments: 60, 115, 161, 184, 196, 199. With our port work and a 2.00/1.56 valve: 62, 140, 203, 239, 259, 256.
that is straight off their website. i checked out some aftermarket heads, and they seemed to have lower flow numbers than those heads.
note: i am NOT going through TPIS to do this job, i understand that 1200 for a set of used worked heads is ridiculous, that is why i was going to go through a machinist i know, and spend tops around 600 working the heads.
bye the way, how much do you guys think i could get for these heads if i sold them complete with the comp cams 1.6 roller rockers?

My final opinion. Build it. Run it and lets us know what it did.
Guessing is just that. Only a guess.
