ok i just came across a new machined 305. fresh from the machine shop..sweet! a box of new summit parts for it.. question is i also have a cam i had in my 350..comp cam 270h (i think) are the 305 and 350 cams interchangable? and what about the heads, stock heads from the 350 were just rebuilt would love to use them but not sure i can. any help on this topic would be great. thanks mike

305. .... ..sweet!

Yes the cam will work.
Yes the heads will fit. Whether they're the RIGHT choice is a whole other matter. That would depend on such things as, what size valves are in them, what the chamber volume is, and so forth.

I'd ditch the heads. 624's rank down at the bottom of the trash can, along with 882's and the rest of the large chamber smogger crap from that era.

You mean you put money into 624s???? I'm so sorry to hear. I wish you'd have asked first.
I can't think of ANY casting that would be worse for a 305 (or a 350, for that matter, or a 400....). Well, very few, anyway.
According to my calculations, with typical rebuilder pistons (12cc dish) and typical deck clearances and head gaskets, your compression ratio will be approximately 7.1:1. :barf:
Not a good match.

yeah i put money in them..300.00 a few years ago and they have been sitting on the work bench in the garage since then never used them. i bought some afr's for my engine instead, but since i had them i thought for this 305 i got maybe it was worth a shot ya know. i have some stock 305 heads but they need some work.
