Fuel pump not working, can't re-energize it either.....
Allright, as some of you may know, on the FI 3rd gens you have to re-energize the fuel pump after you run out of gas, remove a line, etc. Well, I'm carbed, but still using the in-tank style pump.
I tryed re-energizing it the way I always have, and it's not working now. I ran out of fuel (at my house, I was tuning the carb and didn't realize fuel was that low. Well I went and bought more fuel, but then realized I had to re-energize the pump. So I ran one wire from the positive to the lower row of pins on the diagnositc port where your supposed to. Well, I've tryed many different ways and the pump still isn't turning on no matter what I do.
Am I doing something wrong? Am I supposed to run a ground or something? Is it possible I burnt anything out when I did this? I checked the fuse and it seems fine.
-Any help is appreciated, Brandon

I just had a problem similar to this, but my fuel pump would energize, it just wouldn't turn on when you keyed it over. No priming etc. etc. For a few days i couldn't figure it out, but i found a fuse taht had burned and wouldn't let the pump work, maybe this happened to you. On mine, a TPI, the fuse was right in front of the battery on the fender rail, it almost looks like a relay ok...
Hope this might give you a hand,
Brett

There's no fuses there for me unfortunately. Those went away a long time ago with the 2.8 FI to 355 carbed swap.
I really pray it's not bad luck/timing. I just bought a new rear-end and there's no way I could afford to fis this too, I could do it myself easily, but I doubt I can afford the pump. Anyone know if there's a specific way to check it? I"ll probably just go with a mechenical pump if this one really is blown. Or an in-line pump. Are those inline ones hard to wire up or fairly simple?
I just hope the pump is still good.....

Well I got it working today, the previous owner installed one of those fuel pump cut-off switches in the block if the oil pressure goes below 15 psi, so that must have been it, I just unplugged it and hooked it back up and the car started up. Can't believe I didn't think of that first.....
