Any stock GM head, expecially from the 70's with 76cc combustion chambers, is not a horsepower head. They're smog heads. Trash 'em.

How much do you think that those heads are holding these engines back?

Don't even bother with the 882 heads. You're wasting your time. Get some common "416" 305 heads, port them yourself and upgrade to a 1.94x 1.60" valve combo. Pin the rocker studs and you're all set.

Those two heads are functionaly the same. Both are crappy.
Worst and worstest.

Bolting on a set of vortecs in place of those heads would get you a minimum of 75hp and a ton of torque even with a mild cam. Yes they are holding you back. The only fix is to march them out to the curb and get better heads.

I am getting new heads shortly but and i hope you mean that i will see an increase of 75 not a minimum of 75 lol but yeah i hope so... "those heads would get you a minimum of 75hp."
I was thinking about getting a mild crane cam i forget the number but i have it written down somewhere... I want to drive it as well as be able to beat a few kids here and there if i wanted to.

While on topic. I have a couple of these crappy heads laying around. Does anyone know of any good things to do with them? Like say a coffee table or something. Has anyone made any fantastic furniture out of them here? I wasnt sure if they would even be worth trying to transform into something else.

I made 240 RWHP with stock 187 castings on a 305. What is a ZZ4 Hotcam? The ZZ4 cam and LT4 Hotcam are different pieces.

Yard Art.

There's a guy in town who had several trashed (but painted up nicely) old Flathead V8's in his lawn.

Looks cool driving by, but to me just more weed eating around the edges.

Coffee table stand is a good idea, but you have to have at least 3 or 4 sets to be able to pick your beer off of without leaning too far forward. Not really an issue until you go to move the darn thing.

zz4 heads are 113 casting heads. I saw a set on ebay brand new for 530. I think scoggin dickey sells them for 575 ish. Decent heads 58cc chambers/1.94 valves and the best part is they are aluminum so you can run higher compression.

Good for a 305...not sure if id settle for 1.94 valves for a 350
