smoking more than snoop dogg
well on friday i did my valve seals since my 89 LO3 was smoking when i let it sit for a while. Friday night i drove a lot and it was ok. saturday everything turned to **** and now my car has burned 1/4 qaurt of oil over the weekend and it constantly smokes even when idling after its even warm. wtf happened?!!!!ive been told a seal fell off which is very unlikely, piston rings are done for, or the carbon was knocked off the valves in the process and now they dont seal. am i screwed?

whenever a SBC starts smoking, suspect the valve stem seals first. If you are worried about the rings, do a compression/leakdown test.

if it happened right after you put in the new seals, then you did something wrong on the seal swap.

ok well me and my dad redid the seals today. part store sold us the wrong parts to start and we installed them wrong second. parts store never sold us the exhaust seal the big one at the bottom you can put on. then when putting the little o ring seals on we put them on BEFORE the springs but we learned our lesson and now its all better.
