Firing question

I have been having a problem getting my GTA to start. It starts fine the first time, but turn it off and try to restart it, and it won't fire up. I am getting spark, but no injectors firing. If I wait 5 minutes, it's fine. Over the past 30 days we have replaced pick up coil, module, cap, rotor, ECM, fuel pump, fuel filter and reprogrammed the PROM to delet VATS and AIR. TPS checks out at .551 in closed position. A mechanic friend of my dad's says we have a cracked magnet on the distributor shaft that is separating when the engine runs, and that when we shut the engine off and try to restart, it's not getting the proper contact at the lower engine speed during starting. And it's starting after sitting because the magnet pulls itself back together. Has anybody ever heard of this?

It's possible. That little pickup is ultimately the only thing the ECM looks at to know if the engine is running and when to fire the injectors/spark.

I've had them go bad and cause rough running, but not a no-start condition. Doesn't mean it's not possible, I just haven't run into it before.
