Engine ticking, bottom end??? Help??

My engine started ticking, it can be heard from the bottom end. From the top I can't hear it at all.
Its usually on start up and after about a minute or two it goes away. Sometimes the car would start, and there will be no ticking, than within seconds it'll go in and out untill it starts ticking again. From there, after a minute or two its gone again. Its been like that for a while now and the car still runs fine. THe oil preassure is around 40-45psi when cold, and a bit under 30 when warm.
I figured that if its rod knock it will be on the whole time. Plus I heard motors with bad bearings and it does not sound like that. Its a bit faster than what the bearings sounde. The tick is pretty fast.
I am hoping its the lifter, or exhaust however I can only hear it from the bottom.
Need some thoughts from anybody.

why don't you try to pin point the problem, like looking for an exhaust leak (my best guess) or an injector.

It really hard since I have nobody to help me. I feel weary to jack it up when the car has been started.

I'll try to do it, but if you had symptoms like this and found out what the problem is please let me know.

Listened to it carefully today. The sound is coming from the back end of the block. Where the oil pan drain plugg is. I thought it could be flywheel, but it sounds a bit more towards the egine than the flywheel. Its very fast ticking. I've heard rod knock before and it was rather slow and it was more of a thump, thump sound than click click click. I am suspecting a lifter, but coming from the bottom end it does not soud too good. The car still runs fine. The ticking goes away after few minutes and its usually when the car is warming up.
Any thoughts would help. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Does the ticking noise speed up as you apply throttle?

-My 88 Iroc is doing the same thing right now, along with a bad main bearing knock. The cure- GM Crate Motor.
