2nd gen... unmuscular?

im considering selling my iroc for a second gen, and was reading up on the 1980 camaro's. my dad's friend has one with a close-ratio 4spd and a 350. from the factory it says the thing has like 30 less hp than my gutless 305!! i mean, i know they weighed a bit more than a 3rdgen, but... what the heck!

ps. im selling my 3rd gen kuz 1. i dont have the patience to put a standard in it, 2. no patience to put a 350 in it, 3. i hate the 3rd gen's whole muscle/sports coupe cross idea goin on there (gm's idea of new-age i guess), and 4. this 80 camaro has a rear lift and sidepipes... looks like a prowler (love the whole rake look)

pps. the 80 camaro is a Z28 if u haven't yet figured it out.

before this gets locked and destroyed:

2nd gens are pretty cool, but yea, they are the definition of smog. Those "hot" 350's were much more sluggish then the TPI 305, or even L69 305. If it's been beefed up, yea, it could be faster. 2nd gens typically are much heavier then a 3rd gen (worse handling). They also have a different suspension setup, so it'll handle worse due to that too.

I think I know what you mean about muscle/sports coupe, and how you prefer pure muscle. Don't go hanging out in the appearance board here! That's just a bunch of jokers with lowered 3rd gens, that's the "sporty" car. Look at the dragster guys around here, a 3rd gen can still look pretty "muscular". Mwnova's is like that. Mine is, but more "reservation rocket" like, due to the primer and rust....
