Burned Piston Rings and New car

Hey guys I am going to buy this 3rd gen camaro from a guy for 500 bucks its a carbed out 350 with a tremec T5. How much would it cost me to fix the burnt piston ring problem? ? Or if I could do it myself or if anyone from the board would be willing to help me do this? I live in the SW houston area in alief. Thx guys

Engine: 357 vortec finished. need tuning
Transmission: Still works
Axle/Gears: need 3.73
Will probably cost about the amount you bought the car for. The shop will need to remove the engine out the car, remove oil pan and head to get the piston out then reassemble. Check theregional board here and see if someone in your area can help you out.

Even worse, it should be honed for new rings, which means disassembling the whole engine.

Many people think they can just throw new rings in a burnt up motor and expect them to seat. Well its just highly likely they arent going to seat worth a crap and you will end up doing the job a second time!

its will cost a helluva lot more than $500. all said and done with engine removal/install, machine shop work, parts, the many hours of associated labor, it will be about $3,000+ .
