92 rs 305 tbi wont start
I just bought the car, and the guy said his daughter went to use the car and it wouldnt start. It has the 700r4 and 305 with the throttle body. Ive got older camaros but ive never worked on one with a computer, so I am kind of in the dark here. I turn the key and all I get is a clicking sound from the ac compressor. The starter does not do anything. When I jump the starter it starts the car and runs good. I have checked the fusible links to the starter and they all seem fine. I checked all the fuses in the panel and they all look good. Am I missing a relay or fuse somewhere, I noticed with the key on the purple wire to the solenoid is not hot . Any help would be greatly appreciated, Thanks Lumpy

Their should be a chip in the key. It's probably worn out, so your best bet is to see if they have a spare key that hasn't been used, or get a new one cut. After so much use the chip will wear down and no longer make the proper contact, so it acts like you're a thief a refuses to engage the starter circuit. Don't you love the Vehicle Anti-Theft System. Once you put the spare or new key in, she should crank right up. Hope that helps.
Thanks Iroczracer I read up on the vats system and figured it out. I turn the key to start then turn it back just a little and security light comes on then I turn it to start and it fires up. I will eventually either have to get a key made or do the resistor bypass if it gives out completely. Thanks again for the help, this is one heck of a site.
