Need Cam Mark Verification...

Ok so I have been working on my used 305 i bought to replace my blown 305, neways i got it all together today in a rush to beat the rain, when i put the timing chain in this was my procedure...

I put the cam in, dropped the lifters, and p/rods in, then i turned the motor over to TDC, at this position the crank sprocket was at 12 o'clock and the keyway was at like 2 or 3 o'clock...

Then i put the cam sprocket on, and chain so all in all, My crank sprocket is ar 12 o'clock, and my cam sprocket is at 12 o'clock... From here i dropped the dis. in and re did the firing order from there....

The motor is in now, so please tell me my cam timing is correct???

That's fine. It's easier to line up with the cam sprocket dot at 6 o'clock and the crank dot at 12 o'clock though.

One more

One more question, i have one of those chrome timing covers, and the chrome marker... Now with my crank at 12 o'clock why didnt my balancer line match up? I noticed this on the other motor to, i just made a new line on the balancer... I know the 2 piece balancers are known to slip but i know it didnt? Any thoughts????

The mark on the factory balancer is for use with a timing comb in about the 12:00 position. Aftermarket timing covers usually have the timing comb in the old 2:00 position.
