NEED HELP TROUBLESHOOTING
NEED HELP TROUBLESHOOTING
O.K HERE IS WHAT I KNOW:
Just came into my possession is a 88 camaro 305 code "E.
Would not start, didnt run for around 4 years. I pointed it down to
the pickup coil, so for the money i just put the hole distributor down
in it. Fired up after that. I made sure that everything was in line for
timeing .
So here is how it runs: Very Very rich, burns your eyes
Thin ,faint white smoke
some what slow acceleration
No power, when you put in gear &
powerbrake, it really bogs out, wolnt hardly
pull out of the garage, but when you first
put in drive it wants to chirp the tires
it seems to start really hard first time, it
takes around 10 second of cranking to start
it seems to run best with distributor at full
retard
New plugs, Wires , Fuel filter . I dont think this is a timeing issue.
Ive triple checked it 3 times, i had other people help check it , all the
marks line up.
Im thinking it may be a fuel issue, ive ran it a total of about an hour & its burned almost a half of a tank of gas
Also there is no trouble codes, no check engine light,
what now???
THANKS

Check the CST for correct spec resistance at ambient temp, then put in boiling water and compare to specs, if it doesn't read correctly the ECM will either add, or pull fuel, in your case probably adding fuel.
