There isn't a torque spec for the rocker arms. They are adjusted, not tightened.

If you do a search, you'll find the correct procedure for adjusting them.

Re: 87 camaro 305 TPI torque specs

No.

You ADJUST them to achieve a certain amount of lifter preload. Not like Pontiac or LS motors or lots of others.

Usual procedure is to find EXACTLY zero lash for each one, then add a small amount of preload. Around a half turn on the nut should do it. Once you find zero lash for each valve (16 discrete locations, 1 for each valve, although if your standards aren't too high you can do them in groups), you then add some preload.

Altogether a superior system.

Re: 87 camaro 305 TPI torque specs

Do a compression test on the suspected cylinder.
The cylinder with the rocker you over tightenrd eill have no compression... because that valve is now being held open a bit all the time.
When you find the cylinder (s) that now have no compression, loosen the rocker on that a bit.
now it will start.. then Properly RE-Adjust the rockers using correct hyd lifter pre load adjustment method.
These SBC rockers do not have a torque setting like other non ajustable rockers systems do.

You do not evdn need a compression guage to test for which cylinder (s) do not now have compression.
Hokd your thumb over the spark plug hole and crank the starter over (disabled ignition power)
The ones that lack compression will be obvious.
Those are the cylinders you fubared up the rocker adjustment.
