crap! car runs bad after engine swap
OK...waited 10 days to get my car back after swapping in the 350 for the 305. Yes I used the afpr, 350 injectors, etc....I had evertything taken care of.
I had my driver side fan wired to a switch on the console. Both fans run all the time and it still over heats.
The coolant hoses at the TB dont look right but its been such a long time since I looked at them. Basically, you know the passenger side of the TB has 2 outlets. I did the TB bypass a while back but dont remember how I changed it. But the topmost outlet has a hose connecting it to the PCV valve of the pass side head. The bottommost outlet is open.
And now at read lights I notice that I tend to stall. It starts right back up when i put it in park and I have no drivability issues afterwards, except the heating/cooling.
Any thoughts

oh forgot to mention that everything ran fine before the swap. My engine ran way below 220 (between 220 and the hash mark before it) with one fan. The pass side fan almost never ran becasue I never got hot enough to run it with my dash controlled driver fan.

Verified the accuracy of your temp gauge??
Made sure there are no air pockets in the cooling system, and that the thermostat is opening? Fans wired properly so theyre pulling, not pushing?

temp guage is fine I think...was working well before.
Ad far as air pockets I'm not sure. The stat is brand new (180*).\
Not sure about the fan wiring. They definately messed that up.. The pass side fan was supposed to be wired to a fan switch in the block to come on at 200* and the drivers is wired to a mnaul switch on my dash. Now they both come on when the engine starts.
I'll have to take a closer look tomorrow am.
Whish way should they turn as I am looking at them from the engine?

ok well the air was blowing back at my hand as I felt between the engine and the fan, so i guess its pulling and not pushing. I rewired my manual fan correctly and Ive had much better luck with cooling. I'm somewhere between 220 and the dash right before it on the guage. But I'm defiantely running hotter than i was with the 305. I guess thats to be expected.
I'll probably keep the 180* stat and get a fan switch for the head that turns on at 200* and keep the manual fan switch.
The engine still hesitates sometimes. I'm going to replace my fuel filter and check timing. The shop got it all running with the 305 chip in it, but they didnt have enough time to test the engine with the 350 prom the day I came to get it. So timing wasnt checked with the new chip.
