fuel issue
Ok heres's my problem. A couple of weeks ago I went to the store and when I came out about 45 mins. later my car wouldn't start, I checked and I was getting spark and no fuel, so I figured it was a fuel pump when I went back with a trailer it started and ran fine. So I drove it for about two weeks with no problems, then when leaving work on the fourth the same thing happened, and it started the next day. Then today I replaced the relay with another one I had laying around, still no start, after work tonight it started. I'm at a complete loss, I worked at a shop and I've never seen a fuel pump act like this but I'm not sure what else it could be. Has anyone ever seen a problem like this? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

how did you check and know you were getting fuel? Possible bad electrical connection at fuel pump? Still have your ground strap from head to car body?
what year car? what motor? induction? carb/FI?
This happened to me, and it was the timing belt... (different car...) Just a thought.

....
replace your fuel filter they cost $9 and they make a difference...
they get clogged and make the car run like ****...
when you turn your key forward, but not trying to turn the engine ON... does the fuel pump make noise?
After that noise...... goto the gas tank.. open the CAP...
tell me if there's a ****load of pressure being relased(a good sign, of a good fuel pump"
thinking of other possible problems besides the fuel pump.
Do you hvae VATS on your key ?
I had a similar problem with a VATS security key...
Is your starter Cranking the block ?
and its always a good idea, to test all ur fuse's..
i have solved so many random problems with friends and family cars.. just by checking the fuse block

I'm sorry It's a 1988 Trans Am with a 305 TPI, I checked the schrader valve on the fuel rail, and had no pressure at all. I checked the fuses and replaced the relay, The pump was getting power but wasnt working, I changed it today and it works good so far
