when was the first year or the lt1 chould you get it special ordered in 85+ ????

The first year of the LT1 engine was 1992 for Corvettes, and 1993 for F-Bodys (Camaros and Firebirds). The introduction of the LT1 into F-Bodys marked the change into the Fourth Generation F-Body. It was also available in other platforms for a number of years, including Buick Roadmasters, Chevrolet Caprice 9C1s, Chevrolet Impala SSs and I believe a Cadillac platform as well, however the 'Vette and F-Body versions were the H.O. versions with aluminum heads, larger cams and more aggressive tuning making approximately 305 horsepower.

In '85 the best you could get in a 'Vette was the L98 (350 TPI) I believe, in F-bodys the best you could get would be the LB9 (305 TPI) or L69 (H.O. Carb'd 305).
