Couple of Questions

Hey Guys, I have a couple of questions. First I have a High mileage engine (215,000 kms) It still goes strong and sounds great. But I was wondering if I should bother doing an engine flush with the next oil change or will it ruin a good thing. Also I run synthetic in it since I bought the car about 10 yrs now, but I was also wondering if I should bother with the high milage synthetic or just the normal should be fine.

An engine flush? You're talking about the procedure where you flush oil through the engine and clean it out? Personally I wouldn't bother if it'll cost money.. if it's free, hell why not? We never did it in my years working as a mechanic though, and I don't think it's necessary at all, especially since you've been taking good care of your motor.

I have no personal experience with the high mileage synthetic against the normal synthetic, but personally I'd probably just keep running the same stuff.

yeah, probably stick with the oil you're using. I don't know of any problem that changing type of oil will fix, anyway(oil is for lubrication and cooling, not designed to keep itself from leaking.......)

Its just the stuff in a bottle that you put in before the oil change and it is suppose to clean up the buildup in the engine. I was just wondering if I should bother because the engine seems to be working pretty good. I have no leaks or anything, I just seen the higher mileage synthetic on the shelf and was wondering.

What oil have you been using?

The "high mileage formula" oils are 95% marketing ploy. Do you want to be a pawn in that game?
